An artist / painter specialized in painting and restoration-conservation of icons and murals. Lecturer and researcher in natural pigments extracted from minerals and their use in painting and restoration of wood, murals and fine arts. A geologist and an environmental designer for embellishing cities.
On graduating from the American University in Beirut with a degree in Geology, Lena Kelekian continued her studies in painting and restoration of icons and murals in several universities in Europe; U.K, Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Portugal. She got a DST in Theology and later she specialized in Environmental Design, the Antoni Gaudi cut ceramic style in Spain.
She is a renowned artist specialized in sacred art, and since 1992 has participated in more than 143 exhibitions - Museums, Salons and Biennales, in private and collective art exhibitions, with her sister Hilda, representing Lebanon, in Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Korea (FIFA 2002 art expo), Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Sultanate of Oman, Poland, Russia, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Syria, U.A.E., United Kingdom, U.S.A., Urals & Zimbabwe.
She has won ten gold medals and many awards and distinctions from Asia, Europe & the Americas, the lastest being the gold medal & torch of the Olympic Fine Arts competition in 2008 held during the Olympic games in Beijing - China. An active member in many local & international cultural, artistic and social associations,she is the president of MEADOWS NGO (Mediterranean Endeavors Advancing Development Of Widespread Sustainability) & board member & curator of exhibitions in the OFAA (Olympic Fine Arts Assosiation). She is chairperson of cultural and art exhibition’s committees of the Beirut Heritage Association, the Beirut Cultural Council,council member of the AUB Alumni WAAUB and Board member & vice-president of the Lebanese Geological Society . She is the National President & General Delegate for Lebanon & Middle East of Accademia Grechi Marino, Italy, member of the Unesco-AIAP, Antoni Gaudi Society in Spain, UKIC, & the President of Lebanon of FAM Forum of Creative Women in the Mediterranean, Rhodos - Greece. She is a university lecturer of Byzantine Art and history. She has organized international art exhibitions in Beirut, Barcelona, New York and is the curator of the IESFA. Her artworks are in permanent display in nine museums in Asia, Europe and the Americas. Many of her environmental designs in colorful cut ceramics ornate several cities in Europe and Lebanon like the Sassine Tunnel, Beirut River bank and the coastal road walls, several children & public gardens, and monuments in main squares. Soon to start the embellishment of the city of Saida corniche in Lebanon.
